My Out of Body Flight
When I was first married my husband and I lived in the house that my
Grandmother enjoyed for about 15 years after my Grandpa was deceased.
My Grandma was still alive and living with my Mother because she was
becoming senile and had difficulty with short term memory. The house
was very old, but quite comfy for a family of four. There were two
bedrooms at the top of the stairs and ours (my husbands and mine) was
in the front of the house with the front porch roof directly under our
windows.
While sleeping one night I had a very vivid dream that I climbed out onto the front porch roof from our bedroom and "flew" across the town. Now I say "flew" because I have no other word to describe the action that lifted me from the roof and into the sky over the town. I have very clear memories of looking at my town from the air (I have no reason to know what this would look like). I soared to a rural area about 20 miles away. It was off of a small, but well traveled road next to the prison farm. When I landed on the ground in my pajamas and feeling the breeze and hearing every leave rustle through the trees, I got fearful when I saw headlights coming toward me. I felt very tense and lifted into the air, where I felt totally comfortable, and "flew" back home, climbed into the window and went back to bed.
Now, when I awoke the next day, I thought surely this was just a very vivid dream until my husband asked if I had spent some of the night on the living room couch. I said no I had not and he asked why I opened the screen window. Again, I said I had not but I still remember every moment of my "flight" like it happened yesterday and can't give any expanation why the screen was open or why I was missing from the bed for a prolonged amount of time.
