We are into moving into a much quieter phase of planetary activity now and we wake to find the Moon moving still in the Sign of Scorpio forming a lovely water trine with Neptune, so we will be looking for a restful and easy start to our weekend. Breakfast in bed with the one you love will sound like a wonderful idea. 

Brigit is a celtic triple-goddess, which means that she represents three aspects of woman: the young virgin, the nurturing and loving mother, and the crone/sage/wise woman. Brigit is a fiery goddess who tirelessly protects those who call upon her, and she’s a feminine counterpart to Archangel Michael’s warrior energy. Brigit’s temple is in Kildare, Ireland. She’s celebrated worldwide on February 1, the ancient sacred day called “Imbolc”, which marks the beginning of springtime and increasing daylight.

Lands of the Goddess

The name ‘Britain’ is a derivation of Brigit’s name. Britain was named for an ancient Celtic tribe, the Brigantes, who worshipped Brigit and were the largest Celtic tribe to occupy the British Isles in pre-Roman times. The tribe originally came from the area that is now Bregenz in Austria near Lake Constance. The word ‘brigand’ comes from this tribe of fierce warriors.

Her worship probably spread from the Continent, leaving place names behind, such as Brittany in France. Brigit place names are found in Brechin, Scotland, the river Brent in England, the river Braint in Wales, Bridewell in Ireland. Even London has a Bridewell.

The symbol of Britain – the Goddess Brigantia or Britannia, (still found on their fifty-cent coin) is Brigid in her aspect as Goddess of Sovereignty or Guardian of the Land

He is sometimes interpreted as a sun god, a storm god or a sky god. Lugh is also strongly associated with the harvest festival of Lughnasadh, which is named after him.

The Moon remains in the sign of relating Libra and at 19.11 hrs GMT forms a conjunction with the Sun starting a brand new New Moon cycle. New Moons bring the opportunity to set a new path for yourself. In a way you can wipe the slate clean and start again under them, and in Libra, there is an urge to set things straight and to reset the balance now. If your life has become unbalanced or unhinged, now is a chance to tip things in a new direction. 

The Moon today is travelling in the sign of relating to others, Libra, and the energy today will be focused off of ourselves and what we need and directed onto those of other people. Libra as a sign can also be quite partisan in it's requirement for justice and equality, and if we see things are out of balance, we will tend to fight to redress any inequality.

The Moon continues it's journey within the confines of Virgo today and our needs today are more practical ones, such as running errands, keeping things tidy and in order, getting on with the routines that shape our daily lives, indeed we should feel happy if we are keeping ourselves occupied and useful to others. 

Today for those of us in Europe at least there is a marked shift of energy as the Moon moves at lunchtime from brash Leo into more discerning and reserved Virgo. From needing to be out front and centre, the energy pulls back and there is more of a feeling that we should be of service now.
