Difference between a Ghost Hunt and a Ghost Investigation
Investigation
Is a scientifically controlled project, that sets out see and record paranormal activity. This is done normally at locations that are already believed to be haunted.
Hunt
Is a infomal attempt to try and see and record any ghost activity.
Equipment
These are the things that can be used while carrying out an investigation, not all need to be used, and depend on the depth of investigation you want to carry out. Investigations and/or hunts should not really be done alone it is safer to go with others be sure to do it with people you can trust so you know what you have found is true Ask for permission if necessary to be allowed to investigate the building, and be prepared with all the equipment you want to take along and make sure things are done correctly, be well organized so you know what is going on and where people are and remember to record everything that happens.
And it may not do any harm while you are investigating to ask for protection as it may prove to be useful..
DIGITAL CAMERA: for capturing the pictures and any proof
or CAMERA AND FILM: a 35mm is best and use good quality film
DIGITAL RECORDER: you may be able to get proof of electric voice phenomena
EMF DETECTOR: these pick up electronic fields, which maybe evidence of ghosts, it is best to check rooms prior to investigations for their emf reading, as natural sources can give of strong readings, then they can be compared to see if a reading as changed.
INFRA RED THERMAL SCANNER: can detect differences in temperatures and if the temperature as changed (is changing)
MOTION DETECTORS: to see if things have been moving around in a certain place when nobody as been present
NIGHT VISION VIDEO CAMERA: so you can carry on recording what is happening even when it is dark
WALKIE TALKIES: you can keep in constant contact with others in the group when you are investigated different parts of a building
WATCH: so you are aware of the times if things happen
TRIGGER OBJECT: this can be anything E.g a coin, place it on a piece of paper, in a place where it cannot be disturbed and draw around it, leave it until the end of your investigation to see if it as moved.
TORCHES: so you can see in the dark
FINE POWDER LIKE TALC: sprinkle it in a place which can be left and go back to it later to see if there are any marks in it
NOTEPAD : to write down your findings
WIND CHIME: put it in a place where it can not be knocked and it may move when a presence is about
SPARE BATTERIES: for everything just incase, as you don't want to miss anything
MOBILE PHONE: incase of an emergency (or you are scared and need to talk to somebody)
CANDLES AND MATCHES: so you can see if all batteries fail also in a closed off room may indicate air movement
All this will not be needed on a ghost hunt, as it is only informal, so only basic equipment will be needed for eg camera, pen and paper.
