Quija Board : Ouija Prediction

Ouija Prediction

When I was much younger, I would say about eight years old, I was attending a family holiday get-together at my grandmother's house. My two brothers along with my five cousins and I would always play together as children. One of my older cousins had brought her Ouija board. She thought my grandmother's house would be the best place to use the board due to the house's reputation. Many family members who have lived in the house along with myself have experienced numerous, mostly minor unexplained events. Most of the family just jokes about the experiences, as they are rarely terrifying.

We all went upstairs and set up. As I recall, my two brothers and oldest cousin Doug, who was 12 years old at the time, quickly lost interest and went back downstairs. The cousin who owned the Ouija board and Doug's younger brother had the honor of being the two people who would place their hands on the pointer. We started asking questions, most of them pointless and stupid. But one question I clearly remember was, "Out of all of us cousins, which of us will be the first to die?" The board responded by spelling out Doug's name. So we yelled down the stairs, "Doug! The Ouija board says you're gonna die!" I don't quite remember his response, but I know he didn't take it seriously. The next question we asked was, "When will Doug die?" The board spelled out the number 22. So again we yelled down the stairs this time telling him he had 22 years to live.

Soon after we put the board away and found other things to do. Years passed and I had forgotten all about the event... until August of 1999. It hit me while carrying my cousin Doug's casket to his plot in the cemetery. However, it was not 22 years later like we had interpreted. He was 22 years old. Overwhelmed by the strange coincidence, I confronted both of my cousins who had been the ones operating the board. I took them aside one at a time on separate occasions. Both remembered the incident just as I did, and both accuse the other of moving the the pointer.

All my common sense points to the simple solution that one of them is lying. But I know my cousins, and I strongly believe they wouldn't lie about something like this. Not when it involves the death of a loved one so close.
