Ouija and the Walking Table
I was reading the "Haunted Table" and "The Walking Ouija Board" and was reminded of an eerie incident related many years ago to me by my sister. Apparently, Ouija boards can cause furniture to become animated.
According to my sister, she and two other women (this was back in the 1960s) were playing with a Ouija Board in the den of one of the women. The woman's two small children were asleep in their bedroom down the hall; the other woman was her mother, the grandmother of the two children. They were having an interesting time, fascinated by "something" that seemed to be communicating with them. The younger woman jokingly asked if it indeed were a spirit or entity to manifest itself to them in some physical way.
Nothing happened... at first. Then all three heard a heavy "thud" and "drag" – a slow, repetitious sound: "thud... drag... thud... drag." It was coming from the adjacent living room. And then, to their horror, a heavy oak coffee table appeared, slowly walking itself into the den!
The grandmother screamed and ran to the bedroom, later explaining she felt the need to protect the children, that they were in danger from being possessed by this thing – or whatever was animating the coffle table. The scream seemed to have broken the spell, for the table ceased its weird movement. The woman who owned the house destroyed the Ouija board and got rid of the coffee table... just in case.
