Quija Board : Ouija Ordeal

Ouija Ordeal

I saw the movie White Noise. Had it not been based on truth, it would not have been very good, but as it was based on truth, I found it fascinating. It also brought back a very vivid memory of an experience I once had with a Ouija board. I thought what the heck, I will send it to you. It is a true story.

My girlfriend at the time, Wendy was babysitting two young girls. They were using the Ouija board. I told them it was fake, and they didn't believe me. They asked me to try, so Wendy and I sat down with them and started "playing." They were dealing at the time with a spirit named Dexter. Soon it was time to send the girls to bed, and I still did not believe it. However, Wendy said she felt something, so she asked that we keep playing.

Over the next several hours, I started to question my beliefs. Several things started to happen. We were communicating with a little boy named Ben who, to be honest, quickly became rather endearing to us. Ben had taken his own life and was trapped in whatever world we were communicating with. I first became intrigued when Wendy and I put a single pinky finger each on the planchette and it continued to move quickly around the board. Also, Wendy started to know in her head, the answers to our questions, before they were spelled out. She proved to have a great affinity for using the board, and before the end of the night, we were asking questions and getting answers very quickly.

We asked Ben about Dexter, who advised us that Dexter was evil. He advised us that we should keep the board away from the little girls, as it was dangerous for them to be speaking with Dexter. There were many things discussed that night, but by the end of the evening, I was a believer. We went out and purchased a board of our own that next day. When we opened it, it took awhile to "warm up," but soon it was working well. At first, however, we were unable to reach Ben. We realized a certain familiarity to the first spirit who claimed to be Ben, but did not act like him. It turned out that it was Dexter. And Dexter was angry with Ben for what he had said about getting rid of the board. Within a few moments, we were actually arguing with a Ouija board. This argument ended in the planchette doing quick figure eights around the board while our fingers rested several inches above the planchette. It was moving on it's own, I swear.

When we backed away, it was gone. We were able to contact Ben again soon after, and Ben told us that Dexter was evil, and that he had hurt Ben for what he said to us. Ben advised us never to make Dexter angry again, because it was dangerous to do so. Wendy started to see the images in her head again of the answers to our questions. She even wrote them down when I doubted her and to prove she was not moving the planchette, I touched it while she hovered her fingers over it to stay in touch. She took the board home and used it by herself that night. The next day, we used it again, and I took it home, because I didn't think it was good for her to use it alone.

That next morning, Wendy went to work as a nurse. When she walked into see a patient, this old woman asked her what was wrong with her. This woman claimed to be able to see her aura, and told Wendy that her aura was different today, that she looked ill. Wendy told her about the Ouija board and the woman started telling Wendy about the dangers in communicating with the other side, and that there was evil looking for people such as her, and to get rid of the board, and under no circumstances, EVER use the board by herself.

Wendy came home and told me of this. We didn't listen, and within a couple days, Wendy started to change. A once prim and proper young lady, started to become agitated and started to use language that I had never heard before from her. Our relationship started to change. One night, approximately five days after we first used the Ouija board, she started crying and told me she was filled with anger and rage, and didn't know what to do. I am not and have never been a religious person, however I took her to a church, and we knocked on the door of the convent. A nun answered and we asked if we could speak with her. We told her what had been happening, and she concurred what Wendy had been told by the woman in the hospital. She told us only prayer could help. She gave us a rosary, and told us to get rid of the board.

We opened the board one last time and said goodbye to Ben. We cried because we had become close to him. He agreed that we should get rid of the board. We asked if we should burn it, he said no, return it and get our money back, which we thought was funny. We prayed that night, and the next together. I had never prayed like this before, but was so afraid, that I did what we were told to do. Wendy felt better the next day, and soon, this entire ordeal was behind us. Now, whenever I hear people talk about the paranormal, I reflect on that week of my life. My children will never use a Ouija board if I have anything to say about it.
